Picks to Click: Week 12

Three weeks remain in the college football regular season with plenty left to sort out on the national scene and in the race for conference championship games.

Week 12 brings us one of the better slates of the season, with 13 Associated Press Top 25 teams playing on the road, including five ranked vs. ranked matchups. The headliner is certainly fifth-ranked Georgia at No. 13 Auburn, which likely serves as an elimination game for the Bulldogs.

We’ll also get another chance to evaluate undefeated, but still under the radar, teams like No. 7 Minnesota and No. 12 Baylor. The Golden Gophers are fresh off an upset of Penn State, but must back up that performance at No. 23 Iowa. Meanwhile, the Bears host 10^th-ranked Oklahoma, which remains on the outside looking in for playoff consideration despite having just one loss.

The Nittany Lions saw their undefeated season end a week ago in Minneapolis, but have a chance to right the ship against No. 24 Indiana. It may be too soon to count out Penn State, which next week gets a crack at No. 2 Ohio State.

Elsewhere, No. 21 Navy travels to South Bend to take on No. 16 Notre Dame. While this game does not have playoff implications, it does mark the first time in 31 seasons that both the Irish and one of their traditional service academy rivals is ranked in the same season. Notre Dame also expects the nation’s second-longest streak of sellouts to come to an end after 273 games dating back to 1973.

Out in the Pac-12, Oregon and Utah are big favorites against Arizona and UCLA, respectively. Each will be playing for more than just a victory on the scoreboard; the Ducks and Utes have plenty to prove to national on-lookers as they each strive to reach the Pac-12 championship game as one-loss contenders for the College Football Playoff.

Last week, the Picks to Click went 13-7 overall, including 9-11 against the spread and 10-10 versus the point totals. The season totals are now 177-50 straight up, 106-102-2 against the spread and 112-94-4 against the total.
