Picks to Click: Week 0

The college football season has arrived and it is time to unveil the first installment of the Picks to Click.

Each week throughout the season, I will post my weekly “Picks to Click”. This weekly post will be my picks for all Associated Press Top 25 games and all remaining Pac-12 Conference games. I will take a stab at predicting the final score, plus include a couple quick thoughts on the matchup.

However, I will not be including Arizona games in my Picks to Click or my overall tally of winning and losing picks. My previews for the Wildcats will be separate. Otherwise, I will typically plan to post my Picks to Click each Thursday throughout the season.

With that said, it’s time to get started with this season’s picks. There is only one non-UA game on the slate for Week 0, but it should be a good one to kick things off. Here we go …

#8 Florida vs. Miami (FL)

It is a Sunshine state rivalry renewed as college football season kicks off with an SEC-ACC showdown. These programs have not met since 2013, and it is just the third meeting in the last 15 years. Dan Mullen’s Gators exceeded expectations a year ago, but they now face the pressure that comes with being one of the hunted. Setting their sights on the Gators are the Miami Hurricanes and their first-year head coach, Manny Diaz. The challenge for the Hurricanes will be offensively as Florida figures to have a stout defense. But a youthful and thin offensive line also poses questions for the Gators’ offense. Those factors set this one up to be low scoring, but one has to think Mullen has enough pieces to work with to score points. I expect this one to be close much of the way, but ultimately I feel Florida pulls away.

Prediction: Florida 27, Miami 17
